New bathroom with double shower and white tiles

Having an experienced builder like Farmer Constructions on side when you embark on a major home improvement project means many more creative ideas to work with! That’s precisely what happened when Jane Pegg contracted us for her recent bathroom and laundry renovation

Jane and her family had moved into their single storey home in Parrearra, near Kawana Waters on the Sunshine Coast about five years ago. But the bathroom and laundry were tired and in need of some TLC.

“(The house) is about 20 years old and was looking a little bit dated, so we really just wanted to freshen things up a little bit,” Jane said.

Advice from a professional builder

This was Jane’s first-ever renovation, and she’d done extensive research, using Pinterest for inspiration. However, Jane wanted a professional perspective on what was possible and someone to add some creative ideas.

Dani Farmer reviewed Jane’s design concepts and the space available in the bathroom and suggested moving the elements around to open up the room. A layout change would create a more modern aesthetic and space for a double shower across the rear wall.

“The client initially planned to keep things in the same location as they hadn’t thought about how the entire space could be better utilised. Moving things around gave us a blank canvas to work with and a lot more available space,” Dani said.

Tucking the toilet beside the vanity and re-orienting the shower transformed the view into the bathroom to showcase the contemporary new shower.

Double herringbone tile feature

The white double herringbone tiles in the shower and laundry are striking features. Using the same tiles and patterning in both locations brings a sense of flow.

“Jane sent some photos of how she wanted the tiles to look, and we made it happen,” Dani said. “Our tiler is a master of his craft. He painstakingly cut the tiles, so there are little angled pieces in each corner, including in the shower niche, so everything flows perfectly.”

Linear strip drains on either side of the shower create a seamless look on the floor, while large format 600 x 600mm concrete-look tiles deliver a smooth and sleek floor that is easy to clean.

Other features include custom cabinetry in both rooms, LED lights under the cabinetry in the bathroom, and modern matt black tapware, which perfectly contrasts the white cabinetry and tiles.

Bringing renovation ideas to life

“This project has completely transformed both spaces and delivered a wow factor that is consistent with a brand new contemporary home,” said Dani.

We are thrilled that Jane is so delighted with the final result.

“Doing a renovation project for the first time can be a little bit daunting but Dani just made me feel really comfortable. The entire team is just really wonderful and they’ve got amazing skills,” she said.

“I thought initially I’d be most excited about the laundry which I know is a little bit weird. But the bathroom has just turned out amazing, and Dani did such a good job bringing all of our ideas to life.”
